Swad Dyning Hall & Refrashment

Located in the K S S I D C Industrial Estate in Katraj, our dining hall is right at the 2nd Cross. We are in the 6th Block, using shop numbers 7 and 8. Being in this area means we mostly see people from the factories. They usually come in wearing uniforms and are in a big hurry to eat. Joining the two shops gave us enough room for several long tables. The whole setup is very simple. We use stainless steel plates because they are tough and easy to clean. Because of the giant pots of rice and dal, the kitchen stays very hot all day. A big part of my job is keeping the water jars full for thirsty workers. Our menu doesn't change much, but it’s solid food for people who need a proper meal. Sometimes the sound of trucks outside makes it hard to talk. We have plain walls and some old fans spinning on the ceiling. This isn't a place for a fancy night out. It is just for eating and getting back to the job. Once the lunch rush ends, we start the big cleanup. There is always a mountain of dishes to wash. Things get a bit quieter in the afternoon until the evening shift finishes up. I have been in this spot for a long time now. I know most of the regulars by sight and what they like to order. We stay open until the last shift goes home and the lights go out.
