Suswad Catering Services is tucked away in Sadashiv Peth at Ramji Ni Pole. If you know the area, you know it’s full of narrow lanes and a lot of history. We’ve been operating from here for a good bit of time, mostly serving the local community. It’s a small operation, but we stay busy. Most of our mornings start very early, way before the sun is up, getting the stoves going and prepping vegetables. The kitchen isn't huge, but we’ve learned how to move around each other without bumping into things. We do a lot of traditional meals, the kind of stuff we grew up eating ourselves. There’s no fancy marketing department here, just family and a few helpers who have been with us for years. Sometimes the delivery van gets stuck in the Peth traffic, which is always a bit stressful, but we usually make it work. People know us at Ramji Ni Pole as the place that’s always got something simmering on the stove. We don’t make big promises, we just try to make food that tastes like it should. It's hard work, standing on your feet all day and dealing with the heat, but seeing a plate come back empty is a good feeling. We’ve seen kids grow up in this neighborhood and now we’re catering their weddings. It’s just a normal part of life for us and we plan to keep going as long as we can.
