Suraj Electricals is tucked away in Pimple Saudagar Nagarhpet Cross Lane, specifically near the Siddanna Lane Cross. It’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for the sign. We keep the shop filled with wires, bulbs, switches, and all sorts of electrical components. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes because we have so many different types of fuses and conduits. I usually spend the morning checking the inventory and seeing what we need to order from the distributors. The area here at Siddanna Lane Cross is mostly residential, so we get a lot of neighbors coming in because a fan stopped working or they need a new extension cord. We don't really do big industrial projects; it’s more about helping the local folks get their lights back on. The shop is small, and there’s usually a coil of wire sitting right by the door. My brother helps out in the afternoons when things get busy. We’ve been at this Pimple Saudagar location for several years now. It isn't a glamorous job, and my hands are usually a bit dirty from handling metal and plastic parts. We keep a notebook for all the credits and debts because that’s just how we’ve always done it. It’s a quiet life, mostly, unless there’s a big storm and everyone needs something fixed at once. We just keep things moving as best as we can every day. It's a living and we know our trade well enough.
