In the village of Sarafwadi, which is part of Indapur in the Pune district, you will find Sujan Agro Producer Company Limited. Our office is just at house number 500. It is a simple place where we gather to talk about the farming season. We are a producer company, which basically means we are a group of farmers from around the area who decided to work together instead of struggling by ourselves. Sarafwadi is a small place where everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We deal with whatever crops the local land gives us, mostly focused on what the market in Pune or nearby towns needs. There is a lot of paperwork involved in running a company like this, which none of us really like doing, but we sit down at the table in house 500 and get through it. We talk about seeds, fertilizers, and who is going to take the tractor out next. It is plain and simple work, and we do not try to make it sound like something it is not. We are just local farmers trying to do right by our families and our neighbors.
