Southern Spice is tucked away in Khondhwa 3rd Cross, over in the 3rd stage at number 22. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us. We spend a lot of time grinding spices and getting the pans hot. The smell of curry leaves and mustard seeds is always in the air around here. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the food is ready. Khondhwa is a lively neighborhood and there is always something going on outside. We get a lot of regulars who live just a few houses down. They come in for their favorites and we usually know what they want before they even say it. It’s not a polished place, just a kitchen and some tables for whoever stops by. We’ve got some old chairs that have seen better days, but they work fine. We don’t do a lot of talking about what we do; we just do it. The mornings are the busiest when we are trying to get everything prepped. By the time evening rolls around, we are usually pretty tired, but we keep going until the last customer leaves. It’s just a small business trying to stay afloat like everyone else in this part of town. We like being on the 3rd Cross because it’s a little quieter than the main streets, giving us some room to breathe.
