Down here at Ramnagar Society in Pune, we keep ourselves pretty busy with Somnath Polishing & Buffing Contractor. Our spot is on Laxmikant Ashram Road, which stays active most of the day. We aren't a big company with suits; it is just a few of us working on metal pieces until they shine. The work is dusty and loud because of the buffing wheels spinning all day long, but there is something nice about seeing a dull piece of metal turn bright. We handle all sorts of parts that people bring in from the neighborhood or nearby shops. Sometimes the floor is covered in polishing dust, and we have to give it a good sweep every few hours just to see where we are walking. It’s not the cleanest job, but it is what we know how to do. Most of our days are spent hunched over the machines. We know the neighbors around Laxmikant Ashram Road well since we've been here for a bit. If you pass by, you can usually hear the hum of the motors from the street. We don’t do much advertising; people just find us by word of mouth or by seeing the sign when they go to the ashram. It is just honest work, getting the grit off things and making them look decent again. We take our breaks when we can and keep the machines running until the sun goes down. Sometimes we stay late when there is a big pile of parts waiting.
