People usually find us at Bhosari Pradhikaran 51 when the sun is just starting to hit the front shutters. Smita Enterprises isn't anything fancy to look at from the street, but it is where we spend most of our waking hours. Most days start with someone struggling with the lock because it gets stuck when it rains. We’ve lived in this area for years, so we know the people walking by every morning on their way to work. The walls inside could use a fresh coat of paint, but there never seems to be a good time to move everything out of the way. We have old desks and some stacks of papers that have been sitting in the corner since last November.
It’s quiet here mostly, except for the fan that makes a clicking sound on its highest setting. We just got used to it after a while. Sometimes the neighbor comes by to borrow a pen or just to complain about the traffic on the main road. Working out of Bhosari Pradhikaran 51 has its quirks. The light in the back room flickers if you turn on the electric kettle at the same time as the printer. Smita Enterprises is basically just a few of us trying to keep things organized. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just this space with some heavy shelves and a window that doesn't quite close all the way. It feels like home though. Sometimes we sit out front on plastic chairs when the afternoon sun isn't too hot.
