Siddhi General Store

Siddhi General Store is located over at the East End of the Main Road in Warje Malwadi, near the 4th T Block area. It is a bit of a mouthful to say the address, but most people just know us as the shop near the corner. We stock all the daily essentials that families in the Jayanagar 4th T Block area need. From washing powder to cooking oil, the shelves are pretty much full. I spend most of my day behind the counter, weighing out grains or bagging up vegetables. It is a small space, so things can get a bit cluttered, especially when a new shipment arrives and we haven't put it away yet. My son helps out in the evenings after he gets back from his job. We see the same people every day, and we have watched the neighborhood kids grow up over the years. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon signs. It is just a regular shop where people can get what they need without any fuss. Sometimes the fridge for the milk and curd acts up, and we have to call the repair guy, but that is just how it is. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. It is a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. The days are long, but we enjoy the company of our neighbors and the regular talk that happens over the counter.
