Shyam Provision Stores

You can find us at Survey Number 112/V in Mahalaxmi Vihar, right on Alandi Road. We are in the Vikas Colony part of Vishrantwadi, quite close to the Big Bazar. Even though there’s a big store nearby, people still come to Shyam Provision Stores for their daily needs. We keep sacks of rice and flour stacked against the walls. The shop is full of the smell of spices and soaps. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the boxes of cooking oil and crates of soda. We don't have a lot of help, so we do everything ourselves, from unloading the trucks to weighing out the sugar. The floor is made of plain cement and it gets a lot of wear and tear from the heavy bags being dragged across it. There’s a small desk where we keep the accounts in a thick red book. We don't have a website or any fancy advertisements. Most of our customers are the people who live in the flats upstairs or in the neighboring buildings. We know who likes which brand of tea. Sometimes it gets hectic when everyone wants their groceries at the same time in the evening. We just keep moving and get the orders filled. It’s a basic business that keeps us busy from morning until the shutters go down. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we opened, but the work remains mostly the same.
