Shri Krishna Fabricators is tucked away in the Ganapati Matha Ind. Estate. If you know the area, we are right opposite the Ganapati Mandir. You can hear the temple bells ringing during the morning and evening prayers while we are working with the grinders. The address is S.No. 44/1, H. No. 9/2, and it’s a bit of a maze to find us if you aren’t used to Warje Malwadi. We’ve got metal shavings all over the floor most days. The guys start early when it’s still cool because the heat from the welding machines makes the afternoon pretty rough inside the shed. We spend a lot of time measuring things out and then cutting them down to size. There is a small office in the corner where the paperwork stays, but mostly we are out on the floor. The walls have calendars from five years ago still hanging there. We share a wall with another workshop, so it’s never quiet around here between their hammering and our cutting. Sometimes the tea stall guy comes around and we take a break sitting on the crates outside. It isn’t a polished place by any means. There are oil stains on the ground and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains hard. We just keep the machines running and try to get through the long list of tasks we have for the week. It is a noisy, messy business but it keeps us all working.
