If you ever find yourself at the last bus stop in Bibwewadi, you might have seen our shop. It is called Shri Ganesh Time Centre, located at 661/4 in Uppar Indira Nagar. I have been sitting at this same workbench for years, surrounded by the sound of ticking clocks and watches. It is a small place, just enough room for me and my tools and a glass counter for the customers. I mostly spend my time changing batteries or fixing broken straps. Sometimes people bring in old mechanical watches that belonged to their grandfathers, and those are the ones I really enjoy working on. It takes a lot of patience to get those tiny gears moving again. The shop is usually quite dusty because of all the buses passing by outside, so I have to clean the display cases every single morning. It is not a fancy showroom with expensive brands; it is just a local spot where people come to get their timepieces fixed properly. I don't have any assistants, so if I'm not here, the shutter is down. Most of the neighbors know me well by now. We talk about the weather or the local news while I work on their watches. It is a quiet life, but I like the focus it requires. There is always a pile of repairs waiting for me every Monday morning, and I just work through them one by one until the day is done.
