We are located at Lohagaon, right there in the Haveli Taluka near Pune. It’s an interesting spot because the city is growing so fast, but we are still out here working the land. Shreejagadguru Agro Producer Company Limited is basically our way of keeping the farming tradition alive while everything around us changes. We’ve got our spot at Sr. No 288/1/2/2. It’s where we gather to figure out what to plant next and how to get it to the people in Pune who need fresh food. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, so we know these fields pretty well. It’s hard work, and some days the traffic from the city makes it hard to move our stuff around, but we manage. We aren’t trying to be some massive company. We just want to make sure that the farmers in Lohagaon get a fair deal. There’s a lot of talk about development, but people still need to eat, and that is where we come in. We spend our mornings in the fields and our afternoons usually involve some kind of meeting to talk about costs. We don’t use polished language because that’s not who we are. We are just local people trying to make a living from the soil. It’s honest work, even if it leaves us exhausted by the time the sun sets over the hills.
