Shukrawar Peth is one of those places where the lanes are narrow and there is always something happening. Shree Selections is located right in the Sakinaka area of the Peth. We have rows and rows of clothes stacked up on the shelves. It takes a lot of time to keep everything folded properly, especially when it’s a busy afternoon and people are looking through the stacks. People come in looking for something specific, and I have to climb the small ladder to reach the top piles. The air in the shop is always filled with a bit of lint from the fabrics. We have a mirror in the back that’s a bit old, but it does the job for people trying things on. Working in Shukrawar Peth means you hear the bells of the cycles and the voices of all the other shopkeepers all day long. Sakinaka is a familiar spot for us, and we have been in this same place for a good while. I usually keep a glass of water on the counter because talking to customers all day makes my throat dry. The floor is covered in a simple rug that’s seen better days. We don't have any bright neon lights, just a couple of long tubes that flicker when they first turn on. It’s a local business, and we just try to keep the stock fresh and the prices fair for everyone.
