Shree Sai Varieties & Steel Centre

You will find Shree Sai Varieties & Steel Centre right at the Phule Corner in Sangavi. The shop is full of steel. We have everything from small spoons to giant cooking pots that you’d use for a big party. When the wind blows through the shop, you can sometimes hear the tiffin boxes rattling against each other. It’s a bright place because of all the reflections from the metal. We spend a lot of time polishing the display items so they look nice for the customers. People come from all over the neighborhood when they need something for their kitchen. Maybe a new kadhai or a set of steel plates for a guest. It gets very busy during the festival seasons. People want to buy new things for their homes then. We have items stacked up high, and sometimes we have to use a long stick to get something down from the top shelf. It’s a bit of a workout. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that hum all day. The floor is concrete and a bit worn down from people walking in and out. We’ve been at this corner for years. We know the other shop owners nearby and we often share tea in the afternoons. It’s a simple business. We sell steel that lasts a long time. That’s about it. There’s no big mystery to what we do. We just open up, tidy the stacks, and wait for the neighbors to stop by.
