I’ve been running Shree Pan Shop at this spot on Bibwewadi Hill Road 659/4 for quite some time. It’s just a small wooden counter really, not even a full room. You’d probably miss it if you weren't looking for it. I keep a variety of leaves and all the different stuffings in small containers within arm's reach. Most people stop by after their dinner for a sweet pan or just some tobacco. It gets busiest late at night when the rest of the shops are starting to close up. I sit on a small stool for most of the shift, just folding leaves and chatting with whoever walks up. The street can get a bit dark around here, so I have one bright light hanging over the counter. I know which pan each of my regulars likes without them even having to ask. It’s a quiet way to spend the evening, watching the cars go up and down the hill road. I don't have a big staff, just me, and sometimes my nephew comes to sit with me if I need to step away for a bit. The wood of the counter is stained from years of work, and the smell of betel nut is always there. It’s not a fancy business, but it pays the bills and I get to meet everyone in the neighborhood. It’s just a small part of the life here in Bibwewadi.
