Shree Ganesh Steel Shopee is located at 675 Shukrawar Peth near the Flora Fountain area. It is a place filled with the sound of metal clanging and the smell of raw steel. We have stacks of pipes and sheets leaning against the walls and it can be a bit of a maze to walk through if you don't know where things are kept. The floor is made of concrete and it is covered in small metal shavings that we sweep up at the end of every day. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that, just a desk near the front where we write out the bills by hand. Most of our customers are builders or people doing repairs on their own houses in the Peth area. Moving the heavy steel around takes a lot of work and our arms are usually sore by the time we go home. We have an old scale for weighing the smaller items and a big ledger for keeping track of what goes out on the trucks. The street outside is narrow and it can be a real struggle to get the delivery vans in and out when the market is busy. We have been at this location for quite some time and the neighbors all know the sound of our shutters opening in the morning. It is hard work but we are used to the noise and the heavy lifting now.
