We are over in the Camp area, specifically on ST Johns Wood Road at 18/38. Shree Fruits is where we spend most of our waking hours. It starts very early for us, usually before the sun is even up. That is when the crates start arriving. We spend the first few hours of the day sorting through everything to see what is good and what isn't. It is a lot of heavy lifting. The shop smells like ripening bananas and oranges, which is nice most of the time. We don't have a fancy air-conditioned store. It is just an open space with wooden crates and some scales. We deal with whatever is in season. Sometimes the weather ruins a batch and we have to deal with the loss. That is just how the fruit business goes. People from the neighborhood stop by on their way home. We know most of them by name. We don't do any big advertising. Our fruit sits out where people can see it. It gets a bit sticky on the floor sometimes from all the juice. We have a few guys who help with the deliveries. We aren't trying to be a supermarket. We are just a local fruit stall. It is a simple life of counting fruit and making change. We try to keep things fresh, but we are at the mercy of the markets.
