Shree Datta Provision Store

Our little shop is located in Balvika Nagar, which is part of Urulikanchan. It’s a quiet area compared to the city center, but we stay busy enough. The front of Shree Datta Provision Store has a small awning that doesn’t quite keep all the rain off, but it helps a bit. Inside, it’s mostly narrow aisles filled with jars of spices, lentils, and soaps. I try to keep things organized, but when a big delivery comes, there are boxes everywhere for a few hours. The floor is tiled with those old white squares that show every bit of dirt, so I end up sweeping four or five times a day. We have a small television perched on a high shelf, but we rarely turn it on unless there’s a big match. Most of the time, I’m just chatting with the ladies who come in for their daily supplies or the kids looking for a piece of candy. The air feels a bit cooler inside the shop because of the thick stone walls. We don't have any big advertisements or flashy displays in the window. Just the name of the store and a few items sitting on the ledge. It’s the kind of place where you can find what you need without much fuss. We open early and stay open until the streetlights come on and the neighborhood gets quiet.
