Shindi Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited is a local group that works out of Pune. Our office is at Town Center Amanora, specifically in Chamber Office 506. We handle the business side for organic farmers in the Shindi area. This means we do a lot of the boring but necessary stuff like registration, tracking sales, and organizing transport. Our office in the 411028 area is pretty basic. We have some computers, a few chairs, and many piles of paper. It’s not the most exciting place, but it is where the work gets done. We are just people from the community who wanted to help organize how the organic crops are handled. There isn't a corporate hierarchy here; we just all pitch in. Sometimes we are here late trying to figure out a delivery schedule or a payment issue. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just say we are helping farmers get their stuff to market. Maharashtra is a big place for agriculture, and being in Pune helps us stay in the loop. We keep things simple and try to be as direct as possible with everyone we work with. It's a busy life, but it's what we know. There's usually a lot of chatter about the latest rain or the crop prices. We don't have a receptionist, so we just answer the phones ourselves and handle whatever comes our way that day.
