Shankar Cloth Store

Shankar Cloth Store is right here on Diagnol Road in the Khadki area. We are located very close to the Pune General Store, so most people just use that as a landmark when they are trying to find us. Our shop occupies numbers 236, 237, and 238, which sounds like a lot of space but it fills up very fast with all the stock we keep. We have rows and rows of cloth for people to look at. It is a bit of a walk from one end of the store to the other. Khadki is a nice area, a bit more relaxed than the main city center but it is still quite lively. We usually open up the doors around ten in the morning. The floor is made of old tile and it has some cracks here and there, but it is sturdy. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming here since they were children. Now they bring their own kids to buy fabric for school uniforms or big family weddings. We don't use a computer for everything, mostly just pens and paper for the bills and the ledger. It feels more natural to work that way. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling so we have to use a wooden ladder to reach the top stuff. Sometimes the dust from the fabric makes us sneeze. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans spinning.
