Rangwala

We are over on Race Course Road in Raviwar Peth, at number 596. Being in Raviwar Peth means it’s always crowded and the lanes are tight for any big vehicle. Our shop is full of color, literally. There are cans of paint everywhere and bags of pigments stacked up in the corners. The floor is covered in spots of different colors that have dripped over the years. It looks like a bit of a mess but we know where everything is kept. The smell of thinner and oil paint is very strong when you first walk in from the street. We spend a lot of time mixing things by hand or helping people figure out what shade they need for their walls or metal gates. It’s a traditional kind of business. We’ve got old ledgers on the desk and a heavy iron safe that's been there forever. The front of the shop is open to the street, so we see all the carts and bikes going past toward the race course area. It gets very busy on Monday mornings especially. We have a few staff members who have been here for years and they know the regulars by name. It’s a bit dark inside because the shelves go all the way to the top and block the light. We use a wooden ladder to reach the high stuff. It’s just an old-fashioned shop where we deal with colors and brushes every day.
