Secotools

Our place, Secotools, is out in Koregaon Bhima, along the Pune Nagar Road in Shirur. It’s an industrial stretch of road, so there are factories and workshops all around us. We focus on tools here, the kind used for cutting and shaping metal in big manufacturing plants. The atmosphere is very practical. We have machines running and the smell of coolant and metal shavings is always in the air. It’s not the kind of place you’d visit for fun, but if you’re in the trade, you know why we’re here. The road outside is always busy with container trucks moving goods between Pune and Ahmednagar. We’ve been in this spot for several years, and we’ve seen the whole area grow with more and more industries popping up. Our team is small and we mostly keep to ourselves, focusing on the precision of the tools we handle. We don't do much in the way of fancy displays. Most of our stock is kept in sturdy wooden crates or on heavy metal shelving. We deal with engineers and shop foremen who know exactly what they’re looking for. The work requires a lot of attention to detail, so it can be quiet inside the shop even when the road outside is noisy. We take our lunch breaks together under the shade of a small tree out back. It's a routine that works for us. We've lived and worked in Shirur long enough to feel like part of the landscape.
