Satish Pan Shop & General Store

You can find us at 975 Kherwadi in Shaniwar Peth. We’ve been running this pan shop and general store for quite some time now. It’s a small space, so we have stuff stacked up pretty high on the shelves. We sell things like soap, matches, biscuits, and cold drinks. But most people stop by for the pan. I spend a lot of my day preparing the leaves and the different fillings. Shaniwar Peth is an old neighborhood, so the streets are narrow and we know most of the people who live nearby. They come in to buy their daily needs or just to chat for a minute. We don't have a computer system, just a small book where we write things down. The shop stays open until late at night because people like a pan after their dinner. My hands usually have some stains from the ingredients, but that’s part of the job. We have a small fridge that hums in the corner for the soda and water. It’s not a fancy place at all. The paint on the walls is a bit old, and the counter is worn down from years of use. We don’t have any big signs or posters. Just a local shop for the people living in Kherwadi. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we like being part of the street here. Sometimes it gets crowded inside when more than three people enter, but we manage just fine.
