Sansons Electroquips Works

Our workshop on Sinhagad Road is pretty much what you would expect from a place that deals with equipment. It’s number 137, near Versova, if you are looking for the exact spot. There is always a smell of burnt metal or maybe oil in the air. We have benches covered in tools that haven't been put back in the right place for years. It looks like a mess to anyone else, but I can find my favorite screwdriver in seconds. The floor is concrete and has some stains that are never coming out. We spend the whole day fixing things that people bring in. Sometimes they are so old we can't even find the parts anymore. We have to tell them it's finished, which isn't great. Sinhagad Road is always noisy with the buses going past. Sometimes the vibration makes the smaller tools rattle on the shelves. We have a small radio in the corner, but it only gets one station clearly. It’s mostly just static and news. We don't have a fancy waiting area or anything. If you come by, you just stand near the counter or sit on an old stool. We do the work, get our hands dirty, and that’s it. My back usually aches by four o'clock, but there is always one more thing to look at. We just keep the lights on until the work is done for the day.
