Out here in Suaghale, things move at their own pace. Sanskruti Dal Mill Pvt. Limited is located in the MIDC area of Shirur. We are pretty close to the Ganpati Mandir, so you can often hear the bells ringing in the morning. The mill is a noisy place, and there’s always dust in the air from the pulses being processed. We have a lot of bags stacked up all the way to the ceiling. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot and the machines are running all day. We have a crew of guys who handle the heavy lifting and the loading of the trucks. My desk is in a small corner where I try to keep track of the weight and the shipments. It’s not a polished office by any means. There are grease marks on the door and the floors are always a bit gritty. But it’s where we make our living. We don't have a marketing department to tell you how great we are. We just mill the dal and send it off to the markets. People in the district know us because we’ve been here for a while. Sometimes the trucks get delayed or the machines break down, and we just have to fix it and move on. It’s a real business with real problems and real people working here. It is just the way it goes.
