Samriddhi

Our place, Samriddhi, is located in Katraj on Ng Acharya Marg in the Khardev Nagar area. It is a quiet enough spot compared to the main junction, but we still get a good mix of people coming through. We mostly serve simple meals on stainless steel plates that we have had since we opened. The kitchen is small and we have to be careful not to bump into each other when things get busy at lunchtime. Every morning we sit on small stools and peel a mountain of vegetables while the radio plays in the background. The floor is made of grey tiles that show every bit of dirt, so we are always mopping. Ng Acharya Marg has a lot of trees, so we get a lot of dry leaves blowing into the front of the shop. We just sweep them out and keep going. We don't have a fancy menu printed on thick paper, just a board on the wall where we write what we have for the day. Sometimes we change what we are cooking based on what looked good at the market that morning. It is a family-run kind of thing, so you might see someone's cousin or brother helping out behind the counter. We don't have air conditioning, just the breeze that comes through the door and a couple of old ceiling fans that wobble a bit when they are on high.
