Sai Cushion Works

You can find us over at 3 Khondhwa. The shop is basically a big room full of foam pieces, rolls of fabric, and old cushions waiting to be fixed. We have a couple of heavy-duty sewing machines that make a lot of noise when they are running. There is thread everywhere, sticking to our clothes and the floor. Usually, there is a sofa frame or some car seats taking up most of the space in the middle of the room. We spend our time pulling out old staples and cutting new foam to fit. It’s a lot of manual work and our hands get pretty tired by the end of the day. The fabric rolls are stacked against the wall, and some of them have been there for a while. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the work we do. Sometimes people bring in really old chairs that are falling apart and we have to figure out how to make them comfortable again. It gets a bit dusty with all the stuffing and cotton flying around, so we keep the door open for air. Khondhwa is a busy spot and we just stay tucked away here doing the repairs. It isn't a glamorous job but it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We just take one piece at a time and try to get the stitching straight. We mostly just focus on getting the foam right for each piece.
