Down at Tempo Chowk in Ganesh Nagar, the shop stays pretty lively. We are at Sr 48 in the Gaurav Complex, which is a busy little hub. Being near the Wadgaon Sheri bus stand and the Bhosari area means there’s never a dull moment. People are always rushing to catch a bus and they pop in for a quick snack or a cold drink. We’ve got all sorts of variety items here. I’ve got shelves full of snacks, some stationery, and household bits like light bulbs and washing powder. The counter is always cluttered with small jars of candy for change. The noise from the traffic at Tempo Chowk is something you just get used to after a while. I’ve been working here for a good bit now, and I know which buses come at what time just by the sound. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a rechargeable lamp to see the stock. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, especially when a big delivery arrives and there’s nowhere to put the boxes. I do my best to keep everything within reach. It’s just me and the occasional help from my younger brother. We open early and close late, that’s just the way it goes. It’s a practical little shop for the local crowd passing through. I keep a few stools outside for people to sit if they are waiting for their ride. The floor needs a good scrubbing this weekend.
