Down here at Karve Nagar 5, things never really stay quiet for long. Ritesh Mobile Shoppee is a small place, packed with boxes of screen guards, charging cables, and those colorful plastic phone cases that everyone seems to want these days. There is barely enough room for three people to stand at the counter at once. I spend most of my day looking through a magnifying glass at tiny circuit boards or trying to peel off old, cracked screen protectors without making a mess. The street outside is always full of bikes and people walking to the nearby market. We get all sorts of customers, from teenagers looking for the latest earphones to older folks who can't figure out why their phone isn't making any sound. It gets stuffy in the afternoons, so we keep the door wide open, which just lets in more dust and the smell of the street food from across the way. We keep a ledger for the recharges and repairs, and it's mostly filled with scribbles. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we have to wait around to process things. It isn't a glamorous job, sitting under those bright tube lights all day, but it’s what we do. We usually close up late because that’s when most people realize they need something for their phone before the next day starts. It’s just a regular shop in a busy part of town and we like it that way.
