Rex Telecom

This little shop is tucked away in Bijli Nagar, number 323, over in Koregaon Park. It is a small space, mostly filled with glass counters and boxes of phone cases and chargers stacked up against the walls. The light inside is a bit bright and blue most of the time. Usually, there is a radio playing softly in the background or just the sound of people talking outside on the street. People come in mostly because their screens are cracked or their batteries aren't holding a charge anymore. We sit behind the desk with those tiny screwdrivers and tweezers trying to fix things. It takes a lot of patience. Sometimes the parts don’t arrive on time and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow, which they don't always like. It gets a bit dusty because the door stays open to let some air in. You see all kinds of people walking by in Koregaon Park. Some are in a heavy hurry and others just want to chat for a bit while we look at their phones. We have a few stools for people to sit on, but usually they just stand and watch us work. It’s not very quiet here because of the traffic and the horns. At night, we lock everything up in the cabinets and pull the gate down. The sign outside flickers a bit when it's raining. It’s just a normal shop where we try to get things working.
