Ravindra Furniture

Ravindra Furniture is located at 629 Deccan Gymkhana, inside the Bhosle Shinde Arcade. We are quite close to where the Old Natraj Theatre used to be, which is a good landmark for people who have lived in the city for a while. Our shop is full of wood, sawdust, and finished pieces like chairs, tables, and cupboards. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside because we try to display as much as we can. You can hear the sound of hammers and saws from the back where the work gets done. We don't use a lot of fancy machinery; a lot of it is still done by hand with basic tools. We make stuff that is meant to last, not the flimsy things you get in big box stores. The wood we use varies depending on what the customer wants and what’s available. Sometimes the shop gets a bit messy with wood shavings on the floor, but that’s part of the process. Being in Deccan Gymkhana means there are always people walking by, looking through the window. We don't have a salesperson in a suit; it’s usually just one of us coming out from the back with a measuring tape. We talk to people about what they need for their homes and try to make it work. It’s a steady life, making furniture that people will use for years. We just keep our heads down and focus on the wood and the joints.
