You can find Ratna Mehendi Creation over at Thergaon B wing on Pali Mala Road 16. It is mostly a quiet space where we sit and work on designs for whoever walks in. We have these big folders full of patterns, some old and some newer ones that people saw on the internet. During the wedding season, it gets really crowded and the smell of henna is everywhere in the room. It’s a bit of a climb to get to us, but most people don't mind once they sit down. My chairs aren't the newest, but they are comfortable enough for a long session. Sometimes a bride comes in with her whole family and we have to pull in extra stools from the neighbor's place. We do simple patterns for festivals too. I learned this from my aunt years ago and just kept doing it. The light in the shop is okay during the day, but we use extra lamps in the evening to see the fine lines. We go through a lot of tea while we work. If the door is open, you might hear the traffic from the road downstairs. It’s just a regular local business, nothing too special to look at, but we do the work properly. We use the natural cones mostly. Sometimes people bring their own ideas drawn on scraps of paper. We just try to make it look like what they want without overcomplicating things for them.
