My place is at 180 N C Kelkar Road, right in the heart of Narayan Peth in Pune. It is easy to spot because it is directly opposite the Lic Building. I have been working here for quite a while, focusing on design and how to put rooms together. This is not a big firm with secretaries and fancy meetings. It is mostly just me and a few others getting things done. Narayan Peth is a busy area with a lot of tradition, and I try to keep that in mind when I work. People usually come to me because they want someone local who understands the old and new styles of the city. I spend a lot of time drawing and then even more time at the actual work sites to make sure everything is going okay. It is not always a smooth process—sometimes materials do not show up or a wall is not straight—but we deal with it as it comes. My office is full of catalogs, samples of laminates, and old sketches. It is a bit cramped, but it works for us. I do not go for big marketing campaigns. Most of my work comes from people telling their friends about me.
