Ram Dhari Ram Phal

We’ve been here at Shivalay in Sadashiv Peth for a long time now. People around the neighborhood know the name Ram Dhari Ram Phal pretty well. It’s a busy part of town, always people walking by on the narrow streets. Usually, we start the day early, opening up the shutters and getting things ready before the sun gets too high. The building has that old Pune feel to it. Sometimes the tea stall down the road gets a bit loud, but it’s just how things are here. We spend most of our time dealing with the daily stock and talking to people who drop in. It’s not a fancy setup. There’s a lot of paperwork on the old wooden desk that’s been here forever. Most afternoons are quiet when it’s hot outside, so we just sit under the fan and wait for the evening rush. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are. My father and uncle used to handle things, and now it’s just the usual routine every single day. The sign outside is a bit faded from the rain, but you can still read the name clearly. Sadashiv Peth is a good place to be, even with all the traffic and the two-wheelers parked everywhere. It feels like home because it is home. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, without making a big fuss about it. That’s how we like it. Most of the time, the neighbors stop by just to say hello or ask about the family, and that's the kind of place this is.
