R. K. Mobile Shop

You can find R. K. Mobile Shop at 108 Shivaji Road in Shukrawar Peth. It’s a small shop, squeezed between a clothing store and a place that sells sweets. Shivaji Road is incredibly busy, with people and bikes everywhere, so our door is almost always open to the noise of the street. Inside, we have glass counters filled with different phones and accessories that we try to keep clean. The walls are covered in those plastic hooks for chargers, cases, and cables. We spend most of our time hunched over a workbench with tiny screwdrivers and magnifying glasses. Fixing screens and replacing batteries is what we do all day long. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than three customers come in at once, so people sometimes have to wait outside on the pavement. We don't have a uniform; we just wear whatever is comfortable for sitting at a desk for ten hours. Sometimes the air conditioner struggles with the heat from all the electronics, so we keep a small table fan running right on the counter. We’ve been here at 108 for a few years now. Most of our customers are locals who live in the Peth area and know us. We don’t do any big advertising or anything. People just know we are here if they drop their phone or need a new screen guard. We keep a ledger for the repairs and use a lot of rubber bands to keep the phone parts together while they dry. It’s just a normal mobile shop, nothing more, nothing less.
