R K Cells has been in Sadashiv Peth for a good while. Sadashiv Peth is an old part of the city, and our shop fits right in. It’s a small room packed with boxes of phone parts and accessories. We spend most of our time dealing with software updates or replacing batteries that have puffed up. It’s not the most glamorous work, but it keeps the doors open. We have a lot of regular customers who come by just to chat while their phones are being fixed. The counter is wooden and a bit scratched up from years of use. We don't see the need to change it. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. If a phone is broken, we try to fix it. If we can't, we tell you why. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who have been doing this since the days when everyone had Nokias. The technology changes fast, but the basic problems like broken screens and water damage stay the same. We have a small TV in the corner that’s usually on the news. It’s a comfortable place for us. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the people in Sadashiv Peth can keep their phones working. That’s what a day at R K Cells looks like for us. We close on time to go home to our families.
