Pune Central 2 Food Court

Working inside the mall at Shivaji Nagar is a bit different than a regular street shop. We are part of the food court here on University Road. It’s always very bright and there is that constant hum of the air conditioning mixed with hundreds of people talking at the same time. Most of the day is just about keeping up with the lunch and dinner rushes. Weekends get really crowded, and sometimes it's hard to hear what people are ordering over the loud music playing from the mall speakers. We spend a lot of our time just cleaning trays and making sure the counter looks alright for the next person. It’s a very fast pace. You see all sorts of people, from university students with their bags to families out for a weekend of shopping. The kitchen space is quite tight, so we have to stay organized or we just end up bumping into each other. We don't have our own seating, so everyone just uses the big shared tables out front. It gets noisy and messy with people leaving their wrappers behind. Sometimes the deliveries are late because the traffic on University Road is a real nightmare during peak hours. We just do our shift, serve the food, and handle the rush as it comes. It's a lot of standing around on hard floors then suddenly being very busy for several hours straight. By the time the mall closes, we are pretty tired and ready to head home.
