Pride Super Market Grocery & General

Running Pride Super Market Grocery & General keeps us pretty busy from the moment we unlock the shutters at Om Tower. We are right beside Star Bazar in the Satellite area near Koregaon Park, so there is always people walking by our front window. It gets loud with the cars outside, but we are used to it by now. Inside, we have rows of groceries and general items that we spend half the day organizing. The floor is made of that plain white tile that shows every bit of dirt, so we are constantly cleaning. We have those big plastic crates stacked in the back which always seem to be in the way when we are moving around. Most of the folks who come in are living in the nearby apartments and just need a few things for dinner or some soap. We don't really do anything fancy here. It's just a shop. Sometimes the cooling unit for the drinks makes a humming sound that's a bit too loud, but it keeps the soda cold for the customers. We have to check the dates on the milk and bread every single morning before we open up. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying heavy boxes from the delivery entrance. There is a small desk in the corner where we keep the accounts and a pile of old newspapers. It feels like we are always ordering more sugar or flour because those go fast. We just stay on top of it.
