Pride Of Kolhapur

We are located in Bibwewadi. Pride Of Kolhapur is the name on the board outside. If you know Kolhapuri food, you know it has a bit of a kick to it. We don't hold back on the spice because that is how it is supposed to be. The kitchen is always smelling like fried onions and dried chillies. It makes the staff sneeze sometimes. We get our spices sent up from the village because the stuff in the city shops doesn't taste right to us. Most days we are cleaning meat and chopping mountains of onions. It is a messy job but someone has to do it. The dining area is just basic. We have some pictures of Kolhapur on the walls so it feels a bit like home. Most of our customers are guys who moved to Pune for work and miss their mother's cooking. They sit here and eat until they are full. We don't have a waiter in a suit or anything. It is just us in our regular clothes serving food. Sometimes we run out of certain items by nine at night. We don't keep leftovers for the next day. Once it is gone, it is gone. We like it that way. It means everything is fresh. Bibwewadi is a good spot for us because people here appreciate a real meal that reminds them of where they came from.
