You can find our small shop inside the Tirupati Complex at Phule Peth. It is Shop Number 1 on the ground floor, but most of our real work happens in the kitchen area behind or at the event sites. We have been doing catering for quite some time now, mostly for weddings and small family gatherings around this part of town. It is a lot of hard work involving heavy pots and big gas burners. We start our day very early in the morning, sometimes at 4 AM, to get the vegetables chopped and the rice boiling. Carrying everything in the van to the venue is always a bit of a challenge through the narrow streets of Phule Peth. My cousins and a few local workers help me out with the serving and the cooking. We do not have a fancy office where you sit on leather chairs. Mostly you will see us covered in some flour or busy checking the spice levels in a big curry. People come to us because they know we are local and we don't charge for things they don't really need. We just provide the food as requested by the families. Sometimes things get hectic when two events happen on the same day, but we manage by working extra hours. It is a tiring business but it keeps the family going and we are used to the long hours and the heat of the kitchen.
