Pragati Super Market

If you are around Baner Gaon you might have seen Pragati Super Market near Patthar Gate 2. We are right there where the road gets a bit narrow and the people gather. It’s a busy little corner of the world. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all the stuff people need for their kitchens and homes. We have sacks of grains sitting near the entrance and rows of spices and snacks further back in the aisles. It gets quite crowded during the festival seasons or even just on a Sunday morning when everyone is out. We try to keep the aisles clear but it’s a struggle when new stock arrives on the truck. The building has been there for a long time and the Patthar Gate is a landmark that everyone knows so it makes it easy for people to find us. We don't have any fancy lighting or air conditioning inside. We just have some good fans and a lot of patience. The staff here are mostly local guys who know where every single item is hidden on the shelves. We don't do any big advertising or put up huge posters. We just rely on the fact that people know we are here and that we have what they need at a fair price. It’s a simple life running a market. You talk to your neighbors and you handle the inventory. That’s just how we do things at Pragati.
