Pepinos

You can find Pepinos at 1229/A on Fergusson College Road. If you know Pune, you know that FC Road is always packed with students and people just hanging out. Our place is small and can get pretty noisy when the afternoon crowd comes in. We didn’t spend a lot of money on fancy decorations or expensive furniture. The chairs are a bit mismatched and the menu is just printed on a few sheets of paper that are starting to curl at the edges. It’s a casual spot where we do all the cooking and serving ourselves. We don’t have any big corporate goals; we just want to make food that people enjoy eating between their classes or after work. The kitchen is tiny, so things can get a bit frantic when five orders come in at once. Sometimes we forget to turn the music on, or we run out of a specific ingredient because the morning market was short on it. We just tell people honestly and they usually don't mind. It feels like a very local place because it is. We know the regulars who come in every Tuesday, and we know who likes their food a bit spicier. It’s not a perfect operation, and we probably make a few mistakes here and there, but it’s a friendly place. We just try to keep the food decent and the prices fair for everyone.
