Parmar Metals is over in Yerwada, specifically in the Ranchodjis Vas area near Amraiwadi Village at Survey No 8. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, located down a lane that sees a lot of heavy trucks. The ground around here is mostly dirt and gravel. Inside the shop, the smell of iron and grease is always there. We have stacks of metal sheets and rods leaning against the walls. They are heavy and sometimes a bit rusty on the edges. My clothes usually have a few holes in them from the sparks and sharp corners. It’s a noisy place because there is always someone cutting or moving heavy piles. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s more of a working yard. Customers come in with specific measurements written on bits of paper. I look at the stock and see if we can give them what they need. Sometimes we have to move half the inventory just to get to a piece at the bottom. It’s hard work on the back. During the monsoon, the rain hits the roof so hard we can't even hear each other talk. We just wait it out. It’s a basic setup at Survey No 8. We do our work, manage the metal, and deal with the heat. Parmar Metals has been in this spot for a long time, and we know the routine of this neighborhood well.
