Paras Kirana is right in the middle of the New Bhaji Mandai. Since we are in the vegetable market area, it’s always loud and crowded from the early hours of the morning. We sell the usual kirana items like pulses, spices, and soap. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into the shelves, from floor to ceiling. You have to watch your step because there are often crates of veggies from the neighbors sitting in the walkway or empty sacks lying around. We open up very early because that’s when the market is busiest and the most people are out. People come to buy their fresh vegetables and then stop by us to get the rest of their household stuff for the week. It’s a tight space and sometimes it gets quite warm when the sun hits the tin roof in the afternoon. We know all the other vendors around here and we help each other out. We spend our day weighing out items and bagging them up for customers who are usually in a big hurry to get home. There isn't much room to sit down, so we are on our feet most of the time. It is a simple life in the mandai. We don't have a website or any fancy advertisements. People just know where we are because we've been in this spot for years. It’s just us, the goods, and the daily buzz of the market. We try to keep everything in stock so nobody leaves disappointed.
