You can find Paras Furniture in Dhanakawadi, right across the road from the Deccan Honda showroom. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always the sound of bikes and cars zooming past. Our shop is usually filled with the smell of cut wood and varnish. We’ve got sofas, tables, and chairs squeezed into every available inch of floor space. Sometimes it’s hard for people to walk through without bumping into a wardrobe or a dining set. We don’t have those fancy staged rooms you see in big malls. It’s more of a warehouse feel here, where you can see the actual materials we use. We spend a lot of time talking to people about what kind of wood they prefer or how big their living room is. It’s nice when someone finds exactly what they were looking for. The back of the shop is where the real work happens, with tools lying around and sawdust on the floor. It’s a bit dusty, and the lighting could probably be better, but it’s a real shop run by people who actually care about making things that last. We’ve been here in Dhanakawadi for quite some time now, and we’ve seen a lot of neighbors come and go. We just keep building and selling furniture. It isn’t a glamorous life, but it’s a good one. We just try to keep things simple and treat people fairly when they walk through our door.
