We are located in Bibwewadi, right by the Sri Shabari Gurumahal extension. It’s a small corner spot. Most people know it as Pandit Pan Shop. We don't have much room, just enough for the counter and all the jars filled with different ingredients. The day starts with cleaning the betel leaves. We have to make sure they are fresh and green. It is a slow process, sitting there and sorting through the bundle. The smell of the shop is very distinct. It’s a mix of sweet gulkand and the sharp scent of lime. We have been here for a long time. In the evenings, it gets quite crowded. People finish their dinner at home and then walk down for a pan. They stand around the shop, leaning against their bikes, talking about whatever is happening in the city. We know most of their names. Some people don't even have to ask, we already know what they want. It’s a simple way to earn a living. The counter is a bit stained from years of work, and the wooden shelves are old, but it works for us. We stay open late into the night. Sometimes the streetlights go out, and we just use a small lamp. It’s peaceful once the traffic dies down. We aren't looking to expand or anything. We just like being the local spot where people can get a good pan and have a quick talk before heading home.
