Opel Electronics

Up here in the Marol area of Wanawadi, at 37274, you’ll find Opel Electronics. It’s a small space, mostly filled with test equipment and boxes of tiny components. There’s always a soldering iron warming up somewhere, and that specific smell of melting wire is always present. We have a lot of old radios and circuit boards lying around that we use for parts. The workbench is cluttered with screwdrivers, pliers, and bits of solder. I usually have a radio playing in the background, mostly just for some noise while I work. The window looks out onto a busy street, so there’s always a lot of movement outside. It’s not a fancy electronics store with bright lights and glass displays. Most of our stuff is in plastic bins or cardboard boxes. The floor is lino that’s peeling at the edges. We get people coming in with all sorts of broken gadgets. Sometimes we can fix them, sometimes we can't, but we always take a look. It’s a quiet kind of work, requiring a lot of squinting at small parts. The chair I use has a squeak that I should probably oil one of these days. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. It’s a humble shop, but it serves the local folks around Marol well enough. We stay open until late most nights.
