One Mobile

Living and working at Shree Mangal Co Operative Housing Society 111 in Vadgoensheri means we see the same faces every day. Being located inside the society complex makes things feel more like a neighborhood thing than a real business sometimes. Most of our customers are just the people living upstairs or in the next building over. They come down in their slippers to get a quick recharge done or to ask why their phone isn't making any sound. We have a small desk where we do the repairs. It's usually cluttered with tiny screws and bits of wire. We started One Mobile because there wasn't really a place close by to get a decent charging cable without going all the way to the main market. Now, we carry a bit of everything. We have those fancy colorful cases that kids like and the very plain ones for the older folks. Sometimes we just sit and chat with the uncles about the weather while we're fixing a screen. It’s not a huge operation. If we don’t have a specific part, we have to order it from the city, which takes a few days. People don't mind the wait usually because they know where to find us. The shop door sticks a bit when it rains, so you have to give it a good push. I keep a little radio playing in the background most of the time.
