We are located out in Wagholi at number 649. If you’ve been out this way recently, you know how much Wagholi has grown. It used to feel like the edge of the world, but now it’s bustling with people and new buildings everywhere. At Okaya Power, we spend our days surrounded by batteries and power equipment. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and checking voltages. The shop floor is mostly organized, but there’s always a crate or two that seems to be in the way. We get a lot of people coming in because the power around here can be a bit unreliable, especially during the monsoon season. They need something to keep their lights on or their computers running. We spend a lot of time explaining how long a battery will last or why one is better for a certain house. It’s not flashy work. We mostly wear simple clothes because you’re bound to get some grime on you when you’re moving power units around. The road outside is always under some kind of construction, so it’s dusty and noisy, but we are used to it. We take our tea breaks together in the back where it’s a bit quieter. It’s just a few of us here, and we’ve worked together long enough that we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just want to make sure people have power when they need it for their daily lives.
