Oberoi General Store

If you live around Kharadi, you might have walked past Oberoi General Store. We aren't a big supermarket or anything like that, just a regular general store that keeps the basics. It’s a small space, so we have to stack things pretty high to fit everything in. You’ll find milk, bread, soaps, and all the usual stuff people realize they forgot at the last minute. Kharadi has grown so much lately with all the new buildings, but we’re still just doing what we’ve always done. It’s mostly just me and occasionally one of the kids helping out behind the counter. The fans hum all day, and we keep the radio on for some background noise. It gets pretty busy in the mornings when people are heading to work and again in the evening when they’re coming home. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. It’s not just about selling things, it’s about being part of the neighborhood. Sometimes we run out of something because the delivery guy got stuck in traffic, and we just tell people to come back tomorrow. That’s just how it works here. We don't have any fancy displays or lights. It’s just Oberoi General Store, a plain shop in Kharadi where you can get what you need without making a big deal out of it. We keep the doors open and wait for the next customer to walk through.
